Solitary Maple

Maple in crimson gown, Walton Woods Road

“A solitary maple on a woodside flames in single scarlet,
recalls nothing so much as the daughter of a noble house
dressed for a fancy ball, with the whole family gathered
around to admire her before she goes.”

  1. Thats quite a display of autumnal colours already.

Actually, this particular maple photo was taken last fall but I like the way it illustrates the quote. These maples are the very first trees to turn colour, though, and are already showing off. :) (See Sept 21 post.)

  2. What color! The trees are just beginning to turn down here. We have had such a weird summer, I wonder if they will be that pretty.
