After This Rain Shall Stop

It rained...

I hear leaves drinking rain;
I hear rich leaves on top
Giving the poor beneath
Drop after drop;
‘Tis a sweet noise to hear
These green leaves drinking near.

And rained...

And rained some more. AND THEN...

And when the Sun comes out,
After this Rain shall stop,
A wondrous Light will fill
Each dark, round drop;
I hope the Sun shines bright;
‘Twill be a lovely sight.

– William Henry Davies

"A wondrous Light filled each dark, round drop."

  1. Nancy, such beautiful photos! You have such a talent (well many) but you always select such appropriate poems and quotes for these lovelies. Enjoy the rain … or maybe send some our way.

    Thanks so much, Diane — you’re so very sweet. :) Fortunately — or not — the rain stopped, but I believe showers are forecast off and on for the coming week. What we really need, to do some good, are a few days of steady showers. I’ll send any excess your way. :)

  2. What a great post! I loved the poem. Am I the only one who can see a water elf on the right in the first photo?

    LOL, Deb — I see it NOW that you mention it! Awesome…a rain sprite! :-)

  3. Nancy, it is always such a pleasure to pop by here. I just love this fresh photo essay on glorious rain – and light! Perfect poetry to accompany your photography. Oh, and I do see the water elf! :-)

    I’m so glad you enjoyed this post…I think I’m getting attached to the little elf. Hee! :-)

  4. Ah, I feel refreshed after the lyrical poetry and sweet imagery. Visiting here brings me great joy!

    As do your visits bring ME joy, Debi. :)

  6. Nancy this was absolutely refreshingly beautiful – stunning images. “Into each life, a little rain must fall” but at mo we are in drought :(

  7. It’s so hard to capture rain in photos. It’s usually just gray shades. You’ve managed to get fantastic shots full of wetness and water and splash! I thought my screen was dripping. Great post, beautifully done.
