DIRT! The Movie

Those who love to garden will be especially enthralled with this witty — sometimes even comical — exploration of the importance of the top 5 cms of soil that blankets our planet.  Presented by some of the most knowledgeable experts in their fields, Dirt:  The Movie will leave you feeling an almost spiritual connection to the earth.  It gives a whole new meaning to the term “common as dirt”.  Definitely a must see, highly recommended.

  1. Thank you for finding and sharing this, Nancy. Our soil… something so central and basic. Not only can we feel a terrible sense of loss when it is abused, but our entire human race loses. I’m thankful there are people who care enough to do what they can with what they have.

It is certainly an eye opener — I hope you’re able to watch it, Shady.

  2. I shall watch this upon my return home, Nancy. Mom’s antiquated computer won’t allow it!

It’s a really great movie — this is just the trailer, but it will give you an idea of what it’s all about. :)

  3. Wow, Nancy – What foolish things man has done to our beautiful earth. I will have to see this movie – Thank you so much for sharing. (ps-I changed my blog name and site. I made sure to link you on my blog list. I don’t want to miss any of your posts)

Thanks for the heads up — I’m considering a name change myself. :)

  4. I enjoyed the movie. It helps us all to realize that we are the problem and that we can also be the solution.
    Marnie

Indeed it does, Marnie — I don’t know how anyone could watch it and not be touched in some way.

  5. I’ll definitely have to see the movie — from the trailer, it looks like the movie will make some excellent points!
    Lisa

It surely gives you food for thought, Lisa. It brought tears to my eyes in places…we just don’t realize how important our survival is to…dirt. :)

  6. Nancy .. that was amazing ! How did you find it ? .. It is so utterly profound it is scary.
If you stack the number of how many people fully understand the impact on “earth aka soil aka dirt”, against the number of people that haven’t a clue and really don’t care .. well it would be overwhelming to know how many negatives there are against our positive side .
BUT .. I think the tide will turn in our favor eventually .. knowledge and information is so much more accessible now a days .. it has to make a dent in that way of thinking by odds alone .. meanwhile head keep trying to help nurture this earth that keeps us alive !c

PS .. I’ll be looking at my soil in a different way and appreciating it much more , from now on !

Let’s hope more people begin to have the same appreciation, before it’s too late, Joy. :)

  7. Great find, Nancy! I wonder if it will come here. If not, I’ll have to look for it (eventually) on Netflix!

Hi OFB — according to Amazon (where it is available new and used), the DVD was released on April 6 of this year. So I’d think Netflix might have it by now. :)

  8. I am looking forward to this movie. Thanks for telling us about it! I get most movies off netflix now.

I really think you’ll enjoy it, Rosey…I think anyone who has an affinity with the land will enjoy it. :)

  9. I am looking forward to this movie. But I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch it in my country.
Thanks for telling us about it! I hope…
