Words That Inspire – Nancy’s Interpretation

“A flower touches everyone’s heart.”

– Georgia O’Keefe

Noel of A Plant Fanatic in Hawaii has offered up a challenge:  at the first of each month, he will post an inspirational quote and ask for our interpretation of it in the form of a photo or prose or any other creative way we choose to interpret it.

This photo of my daughter was taken nearly 30 years ago and yes, I believe that flowers can even touch the heart of a child.  This picture always touches my heart…this little girl will be 31 years old next week.  :)

  1. aloha nancy,

what a beautiful photo and how appropriate for the quote….isn’t it amazing how we save some pictures just for the perfect moment or thought, thank you for contributing to this

  2. I remember this adorable photo and the quote marries beautifully with it. The innocence and spontaneity of a child drawn in by a flower.

  3. Nancy girl that is a wonderful interpetation through your photograph .. children are such sensitive little souls they truly appreciate beautiful things and a flower is one of the most beautiful events on earth : )

  4. Nice, Francis. I like your interpretation. If I did a monthly inspirational post, it would probably be along the lines of “Rocks That Inspire”.

  5. What a beautiful photograph, Nancy. It’s a lovely interpretation of the poem, made even more special because of the memories it must stir up. Happy Birthday to your daughter!

By the way, Nancy, I attended a garden workshop this weekend, and in our gift bag was a flyer from Horticulture magazine about a poetry contest it is sponsoring. I thought of you right away–I hope you’ll check into it and enter one of your poems.

  6. What a perfect photo and sentiment for this challenge, Nancy! I can’t handle doing any more memes, but I can sure read and enjoy what others do with them. Amazing how fast these children grow up, isn’t it?

  7. How lovely, Nancy. We don’t have children, but we teach many other people’s children, and it’s a delight to see the possibilities that your photograph conveys.

  8. Nancy, Your photo of your daughter is wonderful and how fitting for the quote. Happiest of celebrations for you and your daughter. gail
