Once in a Blue Moon

“New Year’s eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.” – Hamilton Wright Mabie

Wishing you all a beautiful and safe New Year’s Eve on this night of a full, blue moon.

All the best for 2010!

  1. How absolutely wonderful!! Knew it was a full moon (though we are having rain…) but didn’t know it was a blue moon.
    Happy New Year to you.

  2. Gorgeous photo, Nancy! I went out to look at the moon myself last night–with the snowcover, it was as bright as if there were streetlamps all over. Best wishes for a very happy New Year!

  3. What a beautiful photograph! I really enjoyed the idea of a blue moon on the last evening of the year, though I stayed in the warm house rather than traipsing through the snow trying to capture a photo through heavy clouds. Thank you for sharing your image, and for all of your beautiful photos through the year.

I wish you a bright and beautiful year ahead!

  4. I got lucky with my camera through the clouds. Visit my blog for the photo I was able to catch of the blue moon.

And I wish you a most happy and prosperous New Year!

  5. I was out just after midnight New Year’s morning to see the blue moon – the sky was clear, the stars were shining, snow was sparkling in the moonlight and everything really did look, well, blue! I know that’s not what a blue moon means, and I was surprised to see everything looking so blue, as I see it is in your photo too. It was breathtaking, as is your beautiful photo.

I hope you have a joyful, healthful, wonderful New Year.
