2009 Blotanical Winners

2009_award_badgeThe results are up and CONGRATULATIONS to all the category winners!  There were so many wonderful blogs to choose from this year that I’m sure you’ll agree the selections were difficult.

To all who placed a vote for Soliloquy, thank you so very much.  I genuinely appreciate your continued visits and encouraging comments.

Stuart, as always, a big badge of gratitude for all the work you continue to do.

  1. Congratulations on your award. I just joined Blotanical today, and am looking forward to reading many new blogs and making new friends.

Welcome, Deborah! Soliloquy didn’t win awards this year, but just to be nominated is a great compliment, and coming in second and third isn’t painful either. :) I hope you’ll visit often!

  2. Hi Nancy,
You were ferocious competition and I honestly believed you were going to win. I had huge difficulty choosing in other categories, and I’m sure everyone else did in ours too. As you said – coming in the top 5 at all is really more significant than the placings.
Looking forward to reading all your posts in the future.
    Sue

You were most deserving of the win, Sue — I enjoy your blog so much. :) And thank you for your very generous words.

  3. With 1500 blogs in the running, this year was tough—and exciting! It made me think we were all in the Kentucky Derby, garden division. I’ll bet you can come up with a great poem about fighting the good fight and etc., Nancy! Certainly Soliloquy ran heart before hooves, and all of us who read you are grateful that you put that big heart into every post!

Our friend, Ben — that is just the sweetest thing you could ever say. :) Readers are what are truly important to me…and I’m counting on you for many returns.

  4. Well said, Nancy, and award or not, it’s clear everyone loves your blog! Honestly, I’m learning that all garden bloggers are winners — we’re sharing what we love and spreading joy and beauty into the real and digital world. That’s pretty special!

That is VERY special, and it’s what keeps us all writing and clicking those camera shutters. :)

  5. I agree, Nancy; congratulations to everyone who was nominated, including you! It was very difficult to choose who to vote for in many of the categories. And that doesn’t even include many of the great blogs who weren’t even nominated!

The selection process was very hard this year — there are so many really wonderful blogs to choose from.

  6. Nancy, I know you’ll understand when I say “life gets busy!” I hadn’t been to Blotanical for a long time, and when I went there last night (just in time to squeeze in a few votes), I saw the award nominations. I couldn’t believe I was in the nominations for the Iowa Blog. Amazing, but very flattering. You are a fave and you always will be! :-)

Ditto, Shady! And kudos to you on your most deserving nomination.

  7. Hi Nancy,

It is good to be in the running for the awards. Congratulations on yours. I feel tickled to have been in the the first 5 for the Urban Gardens category. As for winning best garden blog in Nebraska, really, there were only 4 of us in blotanical, and if my memory is correct, 2 of them hadn’t been blogging recently. I found that in other states, too, and tried to vote for the ones that had current posts. It really was hard to decide who to vote for, and now, I don’t even think I could remember which I voted for for some of the categories.

I agree, Sue — there were just so many wonderful blogs to choose from, many of which are regular reads. :) Congrats to you, too!

  8. I love this new black and classy look. Love you too and I’ll always be a fan. I’ve got to see the day when you get your Aunt’s house, right?!

Thanks, Anna — they say a change is as good as a rest. You’re such a sweetie and I can’t believe you remember about the house. That pleases me greatly. :) (It just had a new roof and chimney installed, so, winter’s coming and all that. I’m still hoping we can make it happen. My aunt will definitely not be going back to it, sadly. But it has sat empty now for over two years. We shall see — I have very long conversations with The Universe, you know!) Smooches!

  9. Nancy, Congratulations on your Blotanical standing. Some of the categories were almost impossible to choose from, and I count the Canadian blogs among them. Considering our competition, my sister and I were just thrilled to be nominated, and had no expectations of winning. I can only imagine what it will be like next year.

I appreciate and welcome your comments!
