While The Trees Are Leafless

daisyButtercups and daisies-
Oh the pretty flowers,
Coming ere the springtime
To tell of sunny hours.
While the trees are leafless,
While the fields are bare,
Buttercups and daisies
Spring up here and there.

Ere the snowdrop peepeth,
Ere the crocus bold,
Ere the early primrose
Opes its paly gold,
Somewhere on a sunny bank
Buttercups are bright;
Somewhere ‘mong the frozen grass
Peeps the daisy white…

  1. That is a fine poem for spring! The images that it brings forth are lovely…as is your sweet daisy! Have a sweet and delicious day Nancy, gail

  2. “Somewhere on a sunny bank, buttercups are bright …” but not here yet, Nancy … lovely daisy and poem.

    Not here either, Joey — but it is beginning to warm up. It’s lovely here today except for that cold, April wind. :)
