I’m sure that most of you would agree that there’s nothing like candlelight on a cold, winter evening to warm both the ambiance of any room, and your spirit. I received several candles and candle-related items as gifts this Christmas, including this lovely holiday tart warmer,
and several scented candles.
But have you ever seen one of these before? The logo on the box may give you a clue. I hadn’t seen such an item before, but I wish I had an old farmhouse kitchen where I think this would be right at home.
It is a tin candle box or holder — not a candlestick or the sort you place on a table, but literally, a tin cylinder meant to hold and store an assortment of candles. It was a gift from my in-laws and I think it’s just the neatest thing. I’ve tried to find some history on such a thing, but I guess its use is self explanatory. I did find some photos of antique boxes that are built much the same.
Any way you look at it, a candle defiitely is a lovely thing!

Your candle gifts are delightful. I had never heard of the tin candle holder, but it is a lovely, rustic thing.
My favorites recently are the candles made from soy, because they burn so evenly and cleanly.
I love that tin candle holder, imagine having it hang in your porch. When ever the power goes out, no more searching in the dark for candles. You could make your way to the candle holder and get what you need. Lovely.

That’s a lovely gift Nancy, I’ve never seen a candle box either. I love scented candles.
That is so interesting, I never heard of those before. I have my grandparents’ tin wooden-match dispenser from their days of cooking on a wood stove. Wouldn’t it be neat to place them together.
It is a pretty cool gift. I can see it being used for several things. I need to get more candles cause it warms the winter up quite a bit doesn’t it?

We always have candles at dinner in the winter, and I love the way it adds to our experience (of trying to wind down after a day at work!)

Love the tin candle holder Nancy. Such a neat gift. I’ve never seen one before either. I also like to burn candles and I use those tarts quite a bit too.
I was wondering if the tin box is a matchstick holder? There are antiques of these. It’s very interesting and unique.
