Post Kyle Post

By the time Kyle reached our part of the province, he had been downgraded to a tropical storm and we suffered little damage here in my town, except for a few scattered leaves.  He packed a bigger wallop to our south shore, but property damage was minimal from all reports this morning.  I hope jodi and Chey fared as well.

I discovered this leaf, along with a smattering of geranium petals, stuck to a glass-topped table this morning.  It seemed a good illustration of how Nature tempers rage with beauty.

  1. Hi Nancy, among your many talents is finding that microcosm of beauty and capturing it to share with us. Thanks for that. We are so glad to hear that you and the others are safe and sound, hopefully. In the meantime, Tennessee cannot buy a drop of rain.

I’ll turn the next deluge around and send it your way. :) Thanks for your kind comments, as always.

  2. Glad to hear you made it through the storm Nancy! Minimal damage is always a good thing during Tropical Storms. The rain & winds they bring can wreak havoc to our property. Beautiful picture today of Mother Nature’s handiwork. :)

I imagine if one had the opportunity to travel around the coast, one would get some amazing photos today — tidal surges and all. It’s amazing what the sea tosses up during one of these storms. :)

  3. A most perfect depiction!

Thanks, Brenda! (I haven’t been to your blog for a while and I can’t imagine why — I must rectify that! Are you showing up on Blotanical? Doesn’t matter…you’re in my Favs list.)

  4. Glad you fared well through the storm Nancy. Beautiful photo!

Thanks, Linda — and yes, it’s always a GOOD thing when these storms turn out to be less savage than anticipated.

  5. This is the 2nd time I’ve seen you use that glass-topped table with excellent, artistic results. This is beautiful, Nancy. I’m glad the storm didn’t cause any damage, except the odd petal and leaf, seemingly.

Mother Nature did the composition on this one…and we all know that SHE knows best! :) Thanks, Debi.

  6. What a lucky shot! All the colors and textures just FELL right into your lap!

Lucky shot and an eye that is constantly scanning my small balcony for anything worthy of a photo. :) This time of year, things have really started to fizzle out, but Nature always provides a perfect canvas, doesn’t she?

  7. What good news to hear that you have no damage from the storm. This photo is a lovely composition. The petals almostlook like they are in ice.

Thanks, Lisa — yes, we were lucky, by all accounts, and jodi (blooming writer) has checked in to say they’re all fine there, too. :)

  8. Hi Nancy,
I came to offercongratulations on your Blotanical Award – and was glad to find you survived the storm. Our daughter newly lives in Texas so we are suddenly much more aware of the dangers of these storms. I”m also so grateful to Stuart because it is because of Blotanical that I have found so many excellent blogs, beautiful, charming, humorous and USEFUL!

Thank you so much for your congrats. I agree with you — I’ve met so many lovely gardeners through Blotanical. :)

  9. Very happy to hear you made it through the storm without any damage. Again, you photos blow my mind. Very pretty.

Thank you, and thank you, Deb. :) I’m so glad to have your visit.

  10. A leaf and geranium petals make a perfect picture. Your photos are always so exceptional. Thanks for the inspiration.

You’re very kind, Lisa — sometimes, it’s just seeing them at the right moment before a wind snatches them away. :)

  11. Congrats on your award!! I had to look at your picture very closely. It looks like it’s frozen to the top? It makes you take a second and third glance. Very interesting. Glad too that you made it through Kyle without damage. We got much needed rain.

Thanks for the congrats, Anna. No ice in the photo, just a lot of water…on the dimpled glass, it has that frozen effect, I think.

  12. I’m glad the storm didn’t cause any serious damage Nancy. Another lovely photo. {no need to enter a reply here because I don’t come back to the comments section — only to the new posts dear, thanks}
