Rainy Day Complacency

“The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain. This is the kind the anonymous medieval poet makes me remember–the rain that falls on a day when you’d just as soon stay in bed a little longer, write letters or read a good book by the fire, take early tea with hot scones and jam and look out the streaked window with complacency.” – Susan Allen Toth

  1. wow… that actually made me wish it would rain tomorrow morning so I could stay in bed with a book (or a blog) and be lazy…

  2. I love rainy days. They are the best for curling up with a cup of cocoa or hot tea and a good book. Plus my plant love it! I love the rescued posies!

  3. One of my favorite sounds on earth is rain falling on the roof. And we certainly need some badly around here! Send it on! And I can curl up with the book I’ve been reading.

  4. I love the color of these nasturtium blossoms, and they look great in that vase.

I’m with all you other rain-seekers…wouldn’t it be nice?

  5. This perfectly captures what I love about rain.
That and that it makes the soil workable so I can weed again. Sigh. Ready for summer to be over.

  6. I’ve been known to run out and rescue blooms too. Yours are buttery as you say and certainly brightened my day. I’ve had a bad stomach virus and don’t you know it–the sun was out every day. I so wanted a nice soothing rain.
