Medicine for the Soul

[Riviera rose lobelia and Dreams red petunia]

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food, and medicine for the soul.” – Luther Burbank

What a difference a few days makes! This small pot was planted only last weekend, and despite cold temperatures, rain, and mostly windy days, they’ve still managed to put forth blooms. I think there’s a lesson in there somewhere. :)

  1. Luther Burbank certainly “hit the nail on the head”, didn’t he? I have a special place in my heart for lobelia – I think it must be the very first flower I learned the name of as a child. There’s even a childhood “lobelia story” that was told and retold by my grandparents :)

  2. Thank you all for your visits and for leaving your thoughts. Blotanical hasn’t picked up several posts, and it’s really nice to know this blog has regular friends. :)

  3. Nancy, I agree — there are some folks who could stand to learn that lesson. Lovely photos, as usual.

(as you know i’m not at all a fan of Blotanical — I much prefer to spend my time visiting directly at the lovely blogs such as yours!)
