Farmer’s Almanac Snow-Melt Contest

I received this in email today from Farmer’s Almanac and thought it might be fun to pass along.

“Think Spring! Enter Our Snow-Melt Contest.
(Click on photo for live webcam update.)

We’ve had several feet of snow this winter here in Dublin, New Hampshire. Tell us on what day you think the snow in the middle of our parking lot will be completely melted.

All entries must be received by March 18, 2008. In case of a tie, we will choose one winner in a random drawing from all those who guessed correctly. The official meltdown day will be announced in a future newsletter and on the webcam page.

  1. Sometimes you have to laugh or you’ll cry. I’m thinking of taking wagers on when all the snow will melt from beside the driveway. I’m betting on sometime in April.

  2. We’re pretty much snowless (for a change) here in Nova Scotia right now — and that’s the way I like it. :) I’m sure winter isn’t finished with us quite yet, though.

  3. isn’t that a neat way to get people involved? Fun too. Nancy, I’ve been super busy all week so I’m trying to catch up … we bought a mobile cell phone unit that attaches to our computer — it gives us high speed (since it’s not available here) and so far it seems to work pretty good. Have you just recently added that lovely red background to your home page? If it’s been there since you changed your template, then it hasn’t been loading while I was on dial up. Anyway, I wanted to let you know it’s really nice — I like the red behind the white very much!

Wow, I’m so surprised that you’re pretty much snowless. I thought with all the snow you got your way you guys would be melting for ages. Enjoy the no-snow! Ours has turned to ice which is not fun.

  4. Diane — thanks for stopping by. I’m so happy for you that you’ve got high speed! The red background has been there all along…it might have taken longer to load on your dial up. :) We had a light dusting of snow yesterday — but it has pretty much melted away again. It’s just brown stubble of grass showing now. But green soon!
