Thursday Thirteen #54

THIRTEEN FAVORITE QUOTES ABOUT LOVE…
FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

1. “What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined… to strengthen each other… to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable memories.” – George Eliot

2. “Love cannot endure indifference. It needs to be wanted. Like a lamp, it needs to be fed out of the oil of another’s heart, or its flame burns low.” – Henry Ward Beecher

3. “You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have really lived, are the moments when you have done things in a spirit of love.” – Henry Drummond

4. “All love that has not friendship for its base, is like a mansion built upon the sand.” – Ella Wheeler Wilcox

5. “Find the person who will love you because of your differences and not in spite of them and you have found a lover for life.” – Leo Buscaglia

6. “What the heart has once owned and had, it shall never lose.” – Henry Ward Beecher

7. “Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery

8. “To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.” – Oscar Wilde

9. “Love at first sight is easy to understand; it’s when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle.” – Amy Bloom

10. “That Love is all there is, is all we know of Love.” – Emily Dickinson

11. “At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet.” – Plato

12. “Love is a canvas furnished by Nature and embroidered by imagination.” – Voltaire

13. “Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists. When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves. We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost. That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence.” – Edmond and Jules de Goncourt

  1. And let’s not forget what Jesus of the Bible said– Greater Love hath no man than this, that He lay down His life for His friends.

  2. Oh my gosh — another Leo Buscaglia quote! I haven’t thought of him in years and now twice in one day!

    Happy TT :)

  3. Although it doesn’t mention love specifically… It’s about love.

I have always been partial to the fox’s wise words.

It is with the heart that one sees rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.
