The Boys in Red

Sometimes, the unimaginable happens. And so it was when these seven young men from Bathurst, New Brunswick, along with a local teacher, were killed early Saturday when their van struck a tractor-trailer while returning from a basketball game. The teacher, Elizabeth Lord, was the wife of the team’s coach, Wayne Lord, who was driving the van. The coach survived the crash along with his daughter and two other players.

Our thoughts are with these families today as the boys are laid to rest.

  1. Such sad events, then that is what makes life. Make every day count. All those young people, just gone.
    I don’t know what to say…

  2. on Friday CBC TV did a really thoughtful tribute to the boys, their families, the coach, his wife, and … my husband asked a very poignant question:
Why hasn’t anyone mentioned the truck driver that the van hit? That man must also be devasted because there was nothing he could do. It’s such a deep tragedy all around. I know the feeling of loss.
