Points to Ponder #18

You can’t escape the responsibility of tomorrow
by evading it today. – Abraham Lincoln

Procrastination. Putting off until tomorrow what you could do today. Is there a more counterproductive habit around? It causes more stress and anxiety than the Grinch in December. Procrastination solves nothing and usually makes things worse. It piles up unfinished business that lurks in and preoccupies the dark corners of your brain. […]

Make action a habit instead. Tomorrow, focus on your toughest hurdle first. Get just that one thing out of the way and enjoy the rest of the day. Be firm and don’t let yourself off the hook. After all, it’s not going away.

  1. I’m the procrastination princess. Ironically, I do agree 200% with your wise advice — in fact, I even dish it out myself. Sometimes I even take my own advice and tackle things that way. But alas, I seem to slip down that slippery slope to procrastination yet again. It’s a vicious circle for me. Great reminder! I need to heed the advice. I’m going to tackle the worst job first and I’m going to log off the computer and go do it right now (see, it worked!) :)

  2. You’re absolutely right. I’ve been waiting for a couple of big projects to go away, and now I’ve decided to just roll up my sleeves and tackle them, first thing tomorrow.
