I decided to use this photo as my submission for this month’s Photo Contest at Gardening Gone Wild, the theme being Winter’s Beauty.
I like the way the early morning light reflects off the snow crystals in rainbow hues, and the solitary shaft of light that illuminates a single, withered leaf. To me, it speaks of cold and solitude, but also of the beauty of this season.
I look forward to seeing all the other entries this month; click the link above for more information.

It would almost be a sad picture, but I see some light on the snow! I love it!
This photo is magical! Love it, Nancy. Perhaps I’ll check out GGW’s photo contest, too. For grins…!
Love the light in the photo, Nancy. It lifts what would be a sad photo and gives it a feeling of hope and promise.
Nancy I also love the way the texture of the snow is captured on the photo. :)
I think that this is one of my favorites. To me, it shows the last vestiges of autumn giving way to the winter, with the leaf on the snow.
A wonderfully atmospheric Still Life. You most certainly have my vote!
I love this picture. I’m going to check out the contest. Have a cozy day.

Lovely Nancy … good luck!
Very nice light, Nancy. I wish we could have this light in summer, without the snow, of course.
That is beautiful(-:
Nice perspective, and great light! Good luck with the photo contest, Nancy.
I like your photo, is does sparkle. Simple elegance.
Oh this is perfect, Nancy. Getting that sparkle is something we cannot seem to do. I love just the suggestion of sunlight on the scene. Love it and good luck to you in the contest!
Good luck Nancy, it’s a beautiful shot! This month’s contest has helped those of us are are NOT fans of winter to appreciate it’s subtle beauty.
I really like your choice for your entry. The light IS wonderful.
Lovely shot. The light comes in like diffused spotlight from the side of the stage.
Cool post you got there!

for simple photo retouches. Doing make ups, making flabs dissapear, losing eyebags and wrinkles.. I’ll be having all the tuts posted on my blog.
The leaf seems to be leaning toward the source of light, does it not? Lovely photo.
